RE- Protection (lesson 4)

Image
Thursday 30th June 2022 LO: (Contextualise) I can describe how protection is expressed by Hindus in the festival of Raksha Bandhan.  Today we learnt about the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan, this festival celebrates the love between siblings. Generally the sister will give her brother a rakhi (a bracelet) and in exchange the brother will promise to protect her. This festival is inspired by an event that happened to the Hindu God Krisna who promised to protect his sister.

MUSIC - Guitar lesson

Another fab week of guitar lessons for Year 3. Revisited the spooky song from last week and we tried to build up our speed of moving fingers between frets and plucking strings. We’ve really tried to get out posture accurate as it helps with our guitar playing if we are sat properly. We tried playing in a Mexican wave style - one straight after another - and as an ensemble. Here is an example of our spooky songs.

PE- Cricket and relays

After a very successful and energetic sports day, Year 3 have put athletics to one side and rekindled their love of cricket. We also had a quick space hopper relay to warm up our bodies. We focussed on calling this week and importance of this when batting with other people.

Sports Day

Image
A huge well done to everyone for a truly magnificent sports day. The weather was beautiful, the team spirit from the children was admirable and the event was a huge success. I know sometimes children started to flag by the end and some got a little upset by the end result but I think everyone did amazing and should be very proud of themselves- I know Mr Speer and myself are very proud of you all! Thank you to Mr Lines, Mr Speer and all the sports coaches for all their hard work organising this event, thank you to all the parents that turned up to support year3 and thank you to my photographer Josh for his many many photos and videos!

French: mardi 28 juin 2022: Jacques et Le haricot magique

Image
Year 3 revised vegetable vocabulary. They sang their song and they played the Vegetable Salad game. They also practised a dialogue with their partner. They then told each other the sequence of events in Jack and the beanstalk story. They learnt the vocabulary for the French version and watched Jacques et Le haricot magique.
